National Roadside Assist

Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

National Roadside Assist (“we”, “us”, “our”) arranges vehicle recovery, mobile tyre fitting and roadside assistance services across England, Scotland and Wales. We are the controller of the personal data described in this policy, which covers data collected through this website, by phone and via WhatsApp.

You can contact us about privacy matters on 07715 385255 or samir.saleem@gmail.com, or via our Contact page.

2. Information we collect

When you contact us or request a recovery, we may collect:

  • Your name and contact details (phone number, email address)
  • Your location or postcode, and your destination if provided
  • Vehicle registration, make, model and condition
  • Details of the problem or service you describe to us
  • Your preferred method of contact
  • Payment records relating to deposits and charges (we do not store full card details; card payments are handled by our payment providers)
  • Technical data such as IP address, browser type and pages viewed, collected through cookies and similar technologies

We only ask for the information we need. Optional fields on our forms are marked as optional.

3. How and why we use it

We use your personal data to:

  • Respond to your enquiry and provide quotes
  • Arrange your service and allocate an independent service provider (this is necessary to perform our contract with you)
  • Take and manage deposits and payments
  • Keep records, prevent fraud and handle chargebacks, complaints and disputes (our legitimate interests)
  • Comply with legal and regulatory obligations
  • Keep our website secure and working properly

We do not use your data for marketing without your separate consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

4. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only where needed:

  • Service providers: once a job is allocated, the assigned recovery or tyre-fitting provider receives the details needed to carry it out (such as your name, phone number, location, and vehicle details), and you receive theirs.
  • Payment providers and banks: to process deposits and payments and to contest fraudulent chargebacks.
  • Technology suppliers: website hosting, email, messaging (including WhatsApp) and similar services that process data on our behalf.
  • Authorities and advisers: where required by law, or to obtain professional advice or enforce our rights.

5. WhatsApp and phone contact

If you message us on WhatsApp, your message and phone number are also handled under WhatsApp’s own privacy terms. If you call us, your number will be visible to us and may be recorded in our job records.

6. How long we keep it

We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes above. Enquiry and job records are generally kept for up to six years to cover accounting, tax and legal-claim requirements, after which they are deleted or anonymised. Data held for consent-based purposes is kept until you withdraw consent.

7. International transfers

Some of our suppliers may process data outside the UK. Where this happens we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or an adequacy decision.

8. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. No online transmission is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to keep your information safe.

9. Cookies

Details of the cookies used on this website are set out in our Cookie Policy.

10. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Have inaccurate data corrected
  • Have your data erased, in certain circumstances
  • Restrict or object to our processing of your data
  • Receive your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent

To exercise any of these rights, contact us on 07715 385255 or samir.saleem@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity first, and will respond within one month.

11. Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available on this page, and continued use of our services after an update means you accept the revised policy.
